Colonial Families

The following are families whose lives intertwined with those of our ASH, SNOW and NORTH ancestors in the early years in New England. Very little is known about most of these individuals - bits and fragments of family legend with an occasional photograph or burial location. If you see any connection, or know about any of these people, please contact me.

My information on these members of the WILDER & MINCKLER (see below for more on MINCKLER) families comes from old handwritten notes found in the belongings of William James Ash (my great grandfather, owner of the family photo albums).

"Some tea from the Boston Tea Party was found in the boots of William Wilder I (born in England, died in Mass.) and was kept by Belsey Kimbal of North Adams, Massachusetts. Belsey gave it to a museum, probably Boston's." (Belsey was a 2nd cousin to Syrena Alvina Ann Wilder) - this tale is unverified at this time but the possibility certainly exists that it may be so.....

Belinda Catherine Minckler's siblings were born in Ohio (the oldest) and Michigan (the younger ones). Her father died in Texas.

The following information on the MINCKLER surname is a compilation of data from a variety of sources (including LDS records) - it is believed to be reasonably accurate but not proven. Additional information willingly considered!

Killion and Anna Margretha were born in Germany and died in the United States Their son John was born at sea - John and his wife Catharina died in New York. Their son Johannes and his wife Sophia were born in New York and died in Vermont. The next generation, John and Elizabeth, lived in Grand Isle, Vermont. The fifth generation, Matthew Minckler, was born in Vermont and died in Ohio. Birthplace of John (generation 6) is unknown - he died in Texas.
