Passed in: Sydney on: December 1st, 2014
It is with great sorrow that we, the family, announce the passing of Steven William Fifield on Dec. 1, 2014. Born in Sydney on Dec. 19, 1952, Steven was the son of the late Howard and Sarah 'Fanny' (Moores) Fifield. His father was born in Sydney, his mother Flowers Cove, Nfld. Steven is survived by his loving wife, Delores (Sparling); sons, Carl (Tanya) and Steve (Becky) and grandsons, Carter and William.

A born salesman, Steven began his career at the Metropolitan Store and then went on to work for Nestle Canada as the sales representative for Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. He was the owner and operator of Fifield Supply and most recently worked in the oil sands in Alberta with Local 92.

Steven is also survived by his sisters, Louise (Lou) Chisling, Seliena (Kenny) King, Marjorie (Mike) Chisholm and brother, Karl (Sandra); sisters-in-law, Joan (Ron) Donovan, Korena (Ken) and Carol Ann and brothers-in-law, George (Clara), Roland (Joan), Collin (Diane) and Gregory (Shirley). Besides his parents, Steven was predeceased by his brother, John William in infancy and grandparents, William and Louisa (Fisher) Fifield and Steven and Seliena Moores. As well as, George and Gertrude Sparling and sister-in-law, Darlene. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Steven was very proud of each one of them and always reminded them how much he cared for and loved them. Always one to help he would never see another man stranded. A man with a heart full of love, kindness, and humour is how Steven shall be remembered by those close to him and strangers alike. In his time, Steven loved baseball, hunting, fishing, being on the road, harness racing and above all else his family. Love ya, Buds!

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Rev. Bill Burke officiating. In lieu flowers, a donation can be made to the Mental Health Fund or the Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or email [email protected]
