A Good Time Coming...Preliminary meeting of ex-confederates, at McKinney, to prepare for the formal and forever burial of the hatchet.

A large number of the Association of ex-Confederate Missourians, old settlers, members of ROSS� brigade, ECTOR�s brigade, Col. FITZHUGH�s regiment and JOHNSON�s spies of Collin county, Texas, met at McKinney on Saturday. April 28, 1883, pursuant to a call of the president of the Association ...for the purpose of making preparations for the joint reunion in August next....The meeting was a large and enthusiastic one, in which all the above and old settlers were largely represented....

The President [Colonel Thomas H. MURRAY].... called the meeting to order and appointed a committee to submit ....plans for the joint reunion in August next. The committee was composed of Hon. J. W. THROCKMORTON, chairman; Colonel William FITZHUGH, Captain W. A. RHEA of McKinney, Colonel D. A. WILLIAMS, of Dallas; Captain W. H. LEMMON, Hon. W. N. BUSH, of Collin county, Captain H. C. MACK, of McKinney, Colonel J. H. JENKINS. .....
