GENERAL AFFIDAVIT

=========

Note:-The affiants should state how they gain knowledge of the facts to which they testify.

 

STATE OF Iowa

COUNTY OF Cedar}ss.

In the matter of the Application of David S. Hepner

ON THIS 28th day of February A. D. 1880, personally appeared before me a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths[,] J. F. Sanford aged 43 years, a resident of Tipton in the county of Cedar, and State of Iowa, whose Post Office address is Tipton Iowa and [section for information on second affiant lined out] well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case, as follows[:]

states that he is personally acquainted with the Claimant D. S. Hepner having Known him for 22 years, having lived near him during the last 3 years and have worked with him during that time, and know that he is afflicted with chronic diarrhea to such an extent that he is not able to work more than one half the time his occupation being a farm laborer, and affiant further states that he was St & Capt of the Co of which claimant was a member during the war & Knows that he was a member during the war & Knows that he contracted diarrhae while in the service which became chronic & that he is still troubled with it to such an extent that he is now one half disabled from obtaining subsistince by manual labor by reason of the disease above described received in the service of the U. S. My Knowledge is derived from claimants having been a private in my Co during the war & from my having lived near him since that time.

I further declare that I have no interest in said case, and I am not concerned in its prosecution.

STATE OF Iowa, COUNTY OF Cedar, ss:

Sworn to and subscribed before me this day by the above-named affiant and I certify that I read the said affidavit to said affiant, and acquainted him with its contents before he executed the same[.] I further certify that I am in nowise interested in said case, nor am I concerned in its prosecution; and that said affiant is personally known to me, and that he is a credible person.
