Declaration for Widow's Increase of Army Pension.

UNDER ACT OF JULY 25, 1866

County of Morgan } ss:

On this 3rd day of December A. D. One thousand eight hundred and sixty eight, personally appeared before me, John Hendrick, Clerk of a Court of Record, within and for the County and State aforesaid, Elizabeth A. Bowlin, a resident of Martinsville Po Inda but lives in in the County of Monroe and State of Indiana, aged 41 years, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on her oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provisions made by the second section of the Act of Congress increasing the pensions of widows and orphans, approved July 25, 1866. That she is the widow of Christopher C. Bowlin who was a Private in Company B, commanded by Capt Samuel Denny in the 67th Regiment of Indiana Vols in the war of 1861; Died of diseas Contracted in the U. S. Service and that by reason of his death in the service aforesaid she has been granted a pension of eight dollars per month, in accordance with a certificate numbered 32,038 bearing date October 6th 1864. She further swears that she has the following named children of her deceased husband and herself, under sixteen years of age, who are now living, the dates of whose births were as given below, to-wit:

Mary A. Bowlin born on the 25th day of January 1855. Emanuel E. Bowlin born on the 14th day of May 1856. Cynthia A. Bowlin born on the 6th day of October 1858. Residence with this mother in Monroe County, Indiana

She further declares that she has not re-married since the death of her said husband, nor has she abandoned the support of any one of the children above named, nor permitted any one of the same to be adopted by any other person or persons as his, her, or their child.

And further that her said husband has left no ["minor" lined out] children by a former marriage he having never been married prior to his marriage with the claimant.

She hereby constitutes and appoints James V. Mitchell of Martinsville State of Indiana, her true and lawful Attorney, with full power of substitution to prosecute this claim for pension, and to receive the certificate which may be issued therefor.
