A mailing list for the discussion and sharing of information regarding the use of emerging web technologies such as social networking sites, RSS, blogs, microblogging, pod and vidcasting, aggregators, newsreaders, permalinks, tagging, wikis, and other web applications in genealogy research.   16. ENG-KENT-NWKFHS-COMP. A closed mailing list, sponsored by the North West Kent Family History Society (NWKFHS), for the discussion and sharing of information regarding Computing and Family History Program problems.   17. FAMILYSEARCH. A mailing list designed to assist anyone with questions regarding use of the Internet for searching Family History. The Familysearch internet site and others are discussed for genealogical research such as searching, downloading, contributing, cross-referencing and microfilm numbers, and basic "getting started" questions are also discussed and welcomed.   18. FHCTech. A mailing list for the discussion of all topics that support the operations of the Computer Specialists at the Latter- day Saints (LDS) Family History Centers.   19. GCSGA. A mailing list for the members of the Genealogical Computer Society of Georgia to discuss the activities of the Society. A mailing list for the discussion and sharing of information regarding genealogy websites that state that family researchers can initially subscribe for free and then charge researchers for posting a message.   24. GEN-IRC. A mailing list for anyone who has an interest in genealogy and is using or would like to use Internet Relay Chat (IRC) to communicate with other genealogists. There are a number of IRC channels relating to genealogy. This mailing list covers mainly those on NewNet but other Networks are welcome to use it as a general Genealogy-IRC list. The main purposes of this list are to enable a genealogist to communicate and set times for live discussions on IRC with other genealogists, post problems or ask questions relating to genealogy and IRC, and anounce new channels or topics of channels in genealogy and IRC.   28. GODFREY-LIBRARY-HELP. A mailing list for anyone desiring help in using the online resources of the Godfrey Memorial Library located in Middletown, Connecticut.   29. GOOGLE. A mailing list for the discussion and sharing of information regarding the Google search engine and how it can be used to maximize the effectiveness of searches for genealogical information.   30. HTMLHELP. A mailing list for helping genealogists who would like to place their webpages on the internet. This is the place to learn programming and to discuss uploading and design elements. Special projects will also be discussed such as the WebTree Project that looked at the HTML that many of the "on the market" programs produce for web pages. A mailing list for the discussion and sharing of information regarding the use of Images Online, an ability provided by Ancestry.com to view and print documents that have traditionally been stored on microfilm or in a limited number of archives and libraries (e.g., census records).   33. Internet_Genealogy. A mailing list for the sharing of information, URLs and ideas for ways of using the Internet for research. Questions, suggestions and discussions regarding the usefulness of particular message boards, mailing lists and websites are encouraged.   36. LINUX-GENEALOGY. A mailing list for the discussion and sharing of information regarding the use of the Linux computer operating system (a variation of UNIX). All discussions must relate to genealogy and address available software, software development, and the use of Linux in support of genealogy research efforts.   37. NEW-GENLIST. A mailing list for announcing new genealogy mailing lists. If you have a new genealogy mailing list, this is the place to post a brief description of the list. Another primary source of material for NEW-GENLIST will be periodic messages from John Fuller of new descriptions of genealogy mailing lists that he has received.   38. NEW-GEN-URL. A mailing list for the posting of information on genealogy-related web sites in order to save researchers time in locating new web sites and determining the location of significant web resources. Information on web sites may be posted to the list even if the sites are not new. Postings should contain your title, full name and email address; the URL (address) of the site; and a brief description of the contents of the site.
