>From Ruth Bowlby CARLETON (excerpts from autobiography):
I was born in August 15, 1920, in the white frame hospital in St. Clair that still stands today, but as an apt. house. We lived on N. Third St. at that time.

The only reason I was not named Beth (from "Little Women") was because Aunt Jessie + Uncle Clint had their baby first. I was named after Ruth BIDDLE, with whom my mother lived for a time before her marriage. Where the Evelyn came from I do not know... But I was called Ruth + sometimes nicknamed "Sunny."
