Adam BOWLBY of Waterford, Ontario died at Berlin, Ontario 26th ult at age 90 years. The deceased was born in Wilmot, Annapolis, N.S. in 1792. His grandfather, with William PENN and ten others were the twelve original grantees of Crown Land comprising what is now the state of Pennsylvania. His mother was a sister of Sir Josiah WEDGWOOD, the great English chemist who invented Wedgwood ware. His father, Richard BOWLBY, during the American Revolutionary War, was a resident of then Province of New Jersey. Becoming a U.E. Loyalist, left the U.S. and settled in Annapolis. When a mere lad, Adam Bowlby served as a volunteer in the war of 1812, being then in command of a company of coast guardsmen to prevent the landing of privateers on the shores of the Bay of Fundy and his father was in active service during the war as a captain in the Nova Scotia militia. As one of the surviving veterans of the war, the deceased has for some time past been in receipt of pension from the Dominion Government. In 1815, Mr. Bowlby left Nova Scotia and went to Upper Canada.
