YEAGERTOWN - Robert E. WATSON, 73, of 33 North Mann Ave., Yeagertown, died at 11:56 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Nov. 30, 1927, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Richard and Mary (ELLIOT) WATSON. His wife, Shirley A. (SHATZER) WATSON, whom he married Nov. 12, 1950, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Bruce (Vicki) BURLEW, Lewistown, Mrs. James (Lesa) GRIFFIN, Monroeville, NJ and Richard WATSON, Yeagertown; a brother, James WATSON, Reedsville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, John WATSON.
He was employed as a foreman at Avtex Fibers/Lewistown Specialty Yarns for 25 years, retiring in 1991 and as a clerk at Burnham Hardware, from 1991 to the present.
He was a member of the Yeagertown United Methodist Church, the National Rifle Association and Camp Rayona. He was also active in various church offices and committees.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Yeagertown United Methodist Church, Mann Avenue, Yeagertown, PA 17099 or to the American Lung Association of Central PA, 205 E. Beaver Ave., State College, PA 16801.
A public memorial service will be held at the Yeagertown United Methodist Church, which will be announced at a later date.
