Died November 12, 1889 (Age 72) - Charleston Township, Kalamazoo, Michigan

Samuel married Rhoda Stevens (October 9, 1821 - October 9, 1851, also born in New York State) on July 24, 1842 in Kalamazoo County, Michigan at the home of widow Naomi Harris. Children of the marriage to Rhoda:

Samuel moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan about 1838. He was listed on the 1839 tax rolls as paying taxes on one horse and a $125 personal estate. His wife Rhoda died on her 30th birthday in 1851. Sam then married Sara Jane Harris (daughter of widow Naomi Harris) on September 11, 1853. Sara Jane was 17 years Sam's junior. Children of the marriage to Sara Jane Harris:

Death of Samuel White

Galesburg, Nov. 12.--[Special] -- Mr. Samuel White, one of the early pioneers and a widely known and respected citizen, died this morning at his daughter's residence in Charleston township, aged 74 years. He had been ill for a long time with a liver trouble and his death was not unexpected. His wife preceded him several years ago. A son and three daughters, all married, survive him.
