History of Scotland and Ulster

From early times the peoples of Scotland and Ireland were connected by historical events.

Parts of both countries were ruled by the kingdom of Dal Riata who conquered the Picts of Pictland, Scotland then known as Alba.

One half of the Dal Riata kingdom was situated in Alba and Wales, an area known as Argyle, and the other half was based across the Irish Sea in Ulster.

Argyle then known as OirGhaeil were words that now translates to "Eastern Gaels."
