Gahagans (Goaghan, Goghan, Geoghegan, Gaughan) documented as being born in County Mayo, Ireland in the 1881 England Census Records

The early years of the England Census records infrequently report the County of birth in Ireland, but notation of more than just the country becomes more frequent from the 1861 census on.

Regarding the John and Mary Gaigan family of Tipton Civil Parish, Staffordshire: Mary is documented as being born in County Mayo, Ireland and John from County Galway. I have not included them in this compilation because I think it is highly unlikely that her surname is Gaigan.

Regarding the Bartholomew and Elizabeth Gaughan family of Chesterfield Civil Parish, Derbyshire: Elizabeth is documented as being born in Westport, Ireland (in County Mayo) and Bartholomew from Derbyshire. I have not included them in this compilation because I think it is highly unlikely that her surname is Gaughan.
