The Surname Brennan in County Mayo Townlands of Slater's Commercial Directory of Ireland, 1846

The following information was acquired from the CD book Slater's Commercial Directory of Ireland, 1846. It is part of the Trinity college of Dublin Library Collection. This CD ROM is available through Archive CD Books Ireland and is part of their Archive CD Books Project. This CD Book covers many of the Major Townlands of Ireland. Each Townland listed has a brief description of its attributes, a listing of the Nobility, Gentry and Clergy, Major Public Office Holders, Schools, Churches, Professionals, Trades, Hotels, Post Offices, Available Coach Routes, Public Institutions and a variety of other miscellaneous information.

The Towns in County Mayo that are covered in this Book CD are Ballina, Ballinrobe, Castlebar, Claremorris, Killala, Newport, Swineford and Westport.

The surname Brennan was documented in the following Townlands: Ballina, Ballinrobe, Castlebar and Westport. Of note as far as my Irish research is concerned, there is a Mathew Coffey in the Townland of Ballina who is listed as a Linen and Woollen (sic) Draper and Haberdasher just like the Brennan Company and a Painter/Glazier, Mathew Corcoran in Ballina as well (these are 2 major Surnames in my family tree). There is a Martin Coffy in the Townland of Westport as well.
