NB This dual dating is not an error. Prior to the introduction of
the Gregorian Calendar c1560 stipulating that the new year would commence on 1st January,
the new year commenced around the 25th March. Protestant England would have nothing to do
with Pope Gregory's decree. It was not until 1752 that the English world adopted the 1st
January as New Year's day. By that time there had to be an adjustment of 11 days to
harmonise the two calendars. The financial world refused to adjust; hence the financial
year still commences on 6th April!
