Oct 2 1880 Early last Sunday morning eight or nine cattle broke down the fence of Tom Tennant's vegtable garden and did considerable damage to the cabbage, beets, carrots etc left in the ground Nov 20 1880 Thos Tennant had a narrow escape from drowning last Wednesday morning. A cow having got on the ice opposite his place and broke through, he went across to assist the owner to get it out. They tied a rope around the horns, and on pulling at it the cow gave a sudden jerk, which rather unbalanced Thomas and he fell forward into the water. He scrambled out somehow, and we are glad to say he sustained no injury other than a cold bath. by the assistance of others the cow was at last got out. Dec 11 1880 Property in West Lynne erected 1879-80 and cost. - on Goschen Ave. cottage now owned by Tom Tennant $350,- Jan 8 1881 Tom Tennant acted the part of the "good samaritan" on Wednesday, in drawing a couple loads of manure and depositing it on the approach to the river, at the foot of Brydges Ave. Other teamsters should "go and do likewise". For this act, those having the occasion to go up and down the ferry hill, unanimously vote Tom a nople philanthropist.
