Thos Tennant had a narrow escape from drowning last Wednesday morning. A cow having got on the ice opposite his place and broke through, he went across to assist the owner to get it out. They tied a rope around
the horns, and on pulling at it the cow gave a sudden jerk, which rather unbalanced Thomas and he fell forward into the water. He scrambled out somehow, and we are glad to say he sustained no injury other than a cold bath. by the assistance of others the cow was at last got out.

For this act, those having the occasion to go up and down the ferry hill, unanimously vote Tom a nople philanthropist.
