March 20, 2012

The Whitewater Valley Genealogical Association met March 20, 2012 at the Trinity Episcopal Parish House. Susan Spence was introduced as a guest and she told of her family coming to Connersville.

Pat Cudworth conducted the meeting. As the treasurer, Karen Creamer, is still in Florida, Pat gave the treasurer’s report. The checking account is $325.59 with one outstanding check to the post office for box rental and savings is $1,676.85.

Jim Wicker reported that he has gone through a lot of newspaper clippings that he has and he will loan them to members to write articles for the booklets the organization is planning on printing.

Jim also reported that the Solid Brass Quintet will be performing March 25 at the Trinity Episcopal Church.

Sue Frank is still trying to find information on Justus Wright. She is working with Karen Hill Daniels to see if they are possibly related. Information has been sent to Jack Carter concerning the Carter family in Connersville. A report was given on the bicentennial fundraiser “Meet and Greet” held at Below the Loft.

The next bicentennial meeting will be Thursday March 22.

Historic Connersville will be doing an event the last week end in April at the Canal House and City Cemetery. Heritage Days will be October 27 & 28.

Volunteers are still needed for the nominating committee.

Curtis wasn’t able to attend the meeting so nothing further was done on the beginner genealogy class. Pat hasn’t heard anything more from Wayne County about a joint meeting.

Pat Summan and John Johnson both told of their recent trips to Hawaii. Pat’s trip was to Maui only while John’s was to several of the islands. John’s church gave him and his wife the trip as a “thank you” for serving 50 years at their church.

Pat Summan served refreshments. Next meeting is April 17 and Doug and Sandy Brown will furnish refreshments.

Those present were Ron and Pam Wood, Jim Wicker, Susan Spence, Sue Frank, Doug and Sandy Brown, Charlie Hughes, Pat Cudworth, John Johnson, and Pat Summan.
