Meeting Minutes, October 2008
OCTOBER 2008

The October 21, 2008 the meeting of the Whitewater Valley Genealogy Association was held at the Trinity Episcopal Church parish house at 6th and Eastern Avenue in Connersville, IN The meeting was called to order by the President, Karen Creamer at 7 p.m.
 
Minutes of the July, August and September meetings were read and approved.
 
Robert Price, treasurer gave his report which was approved.
 
The two volumes of the Fayette County Pioneer Cemetery records that the WVGA purchased were on display. It was decided that any member may take the books to study for month at a time. Karen Creamer signed them out for the first month.
 
Karen reported on the Franklin County Indiana Pioneer Reunion that was held in Brookville on October 10 and 11. She said thirty people attended over the two days. The group ate at the Sidetrack Cafe in Metamora on Friday evening and on Saturday night at Kinsey's (originally the Mounds) just east of Brookville. The Franklin County IN web site address is:(www.ingenweb.org/infranklin/). Karen Creamer is now the ingenweb host for the Franklin County, IN web site.
 
Jane Miller thanked the WVGA for the cards she received after her bone marrow transplant due to cancer. She is now cancer free. The group welcomed her back.
 
Following the business meeting a program was given by John Johnson on the history of Alquina, Indiana (Fayette County). He was from Winchester, Kentucky (Madison County). He is a minister and also worked at Stant Manufacturing in Connersville for 35 years. He had lived in Brookville before moving to Alquina in 1966 where he became interested in local history of the area. Several of the local members who are natives of Fayette County and Alquina were able to add to his information.
 
Coffee and cookies were enjoyed during the meeting.
