David THOMPSON, Revolutionary War, buried Olive Chapel Cemetery, New Carlisle.  Born 23 May 1766, Windham, Connecticut; died 09 September 1840, New Carlisle.  Dedicated grave in cemetery gives incorrect service.  Correct service:  Connecticut: Captain George Markham?s Company of Militia, September 1781 (a Virginia Regiment on temporary duty at Fort Griswold, Connecticut, which recruited neighborhood boys for guard duty following the massacre by Benedict Arnold).  Sources:  David Thompson Pension file R10527; David Thompson obituary South Bend Free Press, 16 October 1840, page three; Orderly Sergeant Aaron Haskins pension file *S18437; Battle of Groton Heights (Allyn, 1882).
