Robert Lee Young

June 4, 1935 - June 15, 2000

Robert Lee Young, 65, of Caldwell Drive, Osceola, Ind., passed away of natural causes at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, in his home.

Mr. Young was born on June 4, 1935, to the late Carl D. and Catherine L. (Meister) Young in Mishawaka, Ind. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Roy Hyatte.

On March 22, 1969, he married Sylvia Thompson in the United Methodist Church, Osceola. She survives. He is also survived by his son, Dennis Laughlin, and his wife, Joan of Bolingbrook, Ill.; his daughter, Patricia Hyatte of Kearney, Neb.; a sister, Loretta Knightlinger of Juneau, Alaska; an aunt, Helen Meister of Osceola; his grandchildren, Derek Hyatte of Lincoln, Neb., Jaime Laughlin, Michelle Laughlin and Melissa Laughlin, all of Bolingbrook; and by four nieces and nephews.

Mr. Young was employed by the Iron Workers Local 292 as an ironworker for 33 years, retiring five years ago. Memberships include Iron Workers Local #292, and the Club 15 Athletic Club in Mishawaka. Mr. Young was an avid golfer, fisherman and bowler.

We wish to give special thanks to the members of the Club 15 Athletic Club, Dick and Dee Love, and Bill and Sharon Marks for all of their support, and everything they did for us in our time of need.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, June 16, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.

In memory of Mr. Young, donations may be made to either Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the American Cancer Society.
