Stanley Wrobel

Stanley "Ed" Wrobel, 89, of Mishawaka, IN, formerly of Brentwood Drive in South Bend, passed away following a brief illness at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2006, in his home,.

He was born on April 8, 1917, to the late Peter J. and Mary Ann (Wisniewski) Wrobel in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with his parents, four sisters and four brothers also preceded him in death. Mr. Wrobel retired in 1979 as a foreman from Sibley Machine Shop in South Bend, IN, after 42 years of employment.

 

On April 6, 1940, he married the former Clementine J. Rogalski at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. She died on March 27, 2004. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann (Don) Riffel of Mishawaka, IN; one son, Bob (Robin Murphy) Wrobel of Detroit, MI; eight grandchildren, Capt. Jeffrey D. Wrobel of San Diego, CA, Ensign Andrew R. (Kelly) Wrobel of Williamsburg, VA, Michael R. (Heidi) Wiskotoni of Edwardsburg, MI, Mark J. (Kristina) Wiskotoni of Elkhart, IN, John R. (Kathy) Riffel, Kirk E. (Becky) Riffel, Jeffrey A. (Christine) Riffel and James A. (Cheryl) Riffel, all of South Bend, IN; and one sister, Sister Macrina Wrobel, C.S.C., of Notre Dame, IN.

 

Mr. Wrobel was a member of St. Hedwig Parish, a former member of St. John the Baptist Parish where he belonged to the Ushers Club, and was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #58 in South Bend, IN. He was a graduate of St. Hedwig High School in South Bend, IN.

Stanley was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan and a loyal Notre Dame fan.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, August 4, 2006, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a parish Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2006, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, with Rev. Leonard F. Chrobot officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
