Marilyn K. Prickett-Womersley

June 11, 1944 - April 1, 2010
MISHAWAKA - Dear much-loved friends. It is with the deepest regret and much sorrow that we mourn the passing of Marilyn Kay Prickett-Womersley. Marilyn had spent many years in Mishawaka and was the youngest daughter of former Mishawaka Mayor Margaret "Maggie" Prickett. After several weeks of hospitalization, in both San Juan, Puerto Rico, and New York City, Marilyn was unable to sustain breathing without mechanical ventilation due to a build up of fluid within her lungs, complicated by a very bad pneumonia. During her hospitalization in New York City we learned that her breast cancer had spread to her bones, liver and lungs. Marilyn chose quality over quantity of life and passed on Thursday, April 1, 2010. A small "Remember Marilyn" cremation was held at Woodlawn Cemetery in New York City on April 3, 2010. A "Remember Marilyn" gathering to celebrate her life in her home town of Mishawaka, Indiana, will be held at the Beiger Mansion Inn on April 17, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Marilyn's remains will be taken to their final destination on the island of Grenada in The West Indies. This is where both Marilyn and her husband, Alan, have the fondest memories of their many happy years together. A gathering of family and friends will be held there on her birthday, June 11, 2010, in Grenada, to celebrate her life. Although Marilyn is not physically with us, her memory will remain with those who were close to her during her life. She left a lasting imprint on all of us. Marilyn K Prickett-Womersley was a tremendous woman, friend, wife and mother. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marilyn's name to the "Pink Ribbon Society of Grenada" and mailed to her son Rick who will present the donations to the organization in June.
