GRANGER - Elizabeth H. Womack, 88, of Granger, and formerly of Edison Avenue, South Bend, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. She was born on March 10, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Stephen and Mary (Balok) Abraham.

On June 15, 1940, in LaPorte, she married Chester T. Womack. They were married for 56 years before he preceded her in death on September 12, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her two sisters, Marie Dill and Irene Borders, along with a brother, Joe Abraham. Elizabeth last worked in the housekeeping department at Saint Joseph Care Center West. She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. While there she was active and participated in many of the activities and organizations. Elizabeth loved to shop; however, nothing was as fulfilling and enjoyable to her as spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elizabeth is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Donna Snyder, and her husband, Bob of Granger; her son, Darrell Womack, and his wife, Jan of Granger; four grandchildren, Graham Snyder and his wife, Jen of Granger, Beth Snyder of Brooklyn, NY, Andrea Phillips and her husband, Aaron of Kansas City, MO, and Ryan Womack of Hernando, FL; two great-granddaughters, Finley Elizabeth and Camryn Q. Snyder, both of Granger; and by her sister, Elsie Spurr of LaPorte.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 30th, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5302 W. Sample St., South Bend. Friends may also visit one hour prior to the start of services. Entombment will follow at St. Valley Memorial Park, Granger. In loving memory of Elizabeth, the family wishes contributions be made to the church.
