Sister M. Euphemia CSC, 80, of Saint Mary’s Convent died there at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday after a one- month illness. She was born Margaret Wimmer on April 22, 1901 in Munich, Germany, and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on June 5, 1923. She was received as a novice on June 5, 1923 and made her profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1929. Throughout her community life she served as an elementary school teacher at several schools conducted by the Holy Cross Sisters, including St. Mary’s (German) and Holy Cross schools in South Bend, as well as schools in Elkhart, Anderson, Ind and Michigan City, Illinois, New York, Michigan and Utah. In 1968 she was assigned to Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent, South Bend, where she remained until 1980, when she came to St. Mary’s Convent, Notre Dame.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Loretto Church and burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday and Friday at St. Mary’s Convent Parlors where a wake will be observed at 7 p.m. Thursday.
