MEETS DEATH WORKING AT  NEW POWER PLANT

Body Severed Lengthwise by Force of Blow

CORNER BEGINS INQUIRY

Joseph Wilson Employed  Sub-Contractor

at Twin Branch Development Project,

First Victim of Fatal Accident

Joseph M. Wilson, age 33, 1010 Redick Street, Mishawaka, was instantly killed at the plant of the Twin Branch Power company, a mile east of that city, this morning at  10:30  o'clock, when he was caught between an electric crane and an interior wall of a building. This was the first  fatal accident to occur at the plant since it began construction two years ago.

Mr. Wilson was not an employee of the company but was working for a sub-contractor named Thompson, who has the contract for placing in the sashes, and had been employed there for the past four months.

The accident was one of the most gruesome that has occurred in this vicinity for some time as the body was practically severed lengthwise when the crane caught him and hurled him against the wall. Death was instantaneous.

The body was taken to Mishawaka, where it was viewed by County Conformer C. B. Crumpacker, who will conduct the inquest and make a careful investigation into the cause of the accident tomorrow.

Mr. Wilson is survived by a wife and two children, one son, Marvin age two and a daughter, Alberta age four. It was the some difficulty that the home of the accident victim was located. Mr. Wilson was born in 1891 in Kentucky and was an orphan. He was married five years ago to Miss Fern Swank at Indianapolis. The family came to this city in May this year. He was a member of the United Brethren church.
