SOUTH BEND - Evelyn Willis, 76, of 3212 Revere Place, died at 3:55 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mrs. Willis had been a hall monitor at Dickinson Middle School.

She was born Feb. 15, 1919, in Luxora, Ark. On Sept. 4, 1945, in Chicago, she married Jesse Willis. He survives with two daughters, Dolories Lacey and Norma J. Johnson, both of South Bend; a son, Doyle of Chicago; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hattie Walters of Luxora; and a brother, David Rhines of Chicago. A son, John W. Willis, died in 1993. She was a member of Saint's Memorial Church of God in Christ, its mothers' board, sick committee and prayer band, and was former president of the Nurses Unit of the church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before services Thursday in Alford's Mortuary.
