SOUTH BEND - Brother Reuben Scott Williams departed this life on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 8, 1917, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to the late Matthew and Nancy McGrew Williams. Brother Williams accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted student of the Bible throughout his life. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Church where he served in a number of positions, including financial secretary and Sunday school teacher. He served in the United States Army after which he relocated to South Bend, where he worked for several establishments before joining Conn-Selmer, Inc., from which he eventually retired. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flossie Williams; his brother, John Williams; and his sisters, Gertrude Blanton, Katie M. Williams, Evelyn Glispie and Mattie Williams. He is survived by one son, Willie C. Williams (Audrey) of South Bend, Indiana; three grandchildren, Damon (Carol) of Apple Valley, California, Danoris (Daren) of Dallas, Texas, and Willie C. II of South Bend; five great-grandchildren, Janet, Damon Jr., Davian, Maddison and Nia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 24393 Fillmore Road. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
