Elmer Clay Williamson

Elmer Clay Williamson, 93, of South Bend, Ind., passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Mr. Williamson was born on April 4, 1909, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to the late Samuel and Jennie (DeYoung) Williamson. He was the owner of Williamson TV Repair, and had been employed with the former Schillings Photography Shop and Studebaker Corporation.

 

On April 16, 1944, Elmer married Angela Springer, who survives. Surviving with his wife of 58 years is his daughter, Paulette (James) Snyder of South Bend, Ind.; sons, Thomas (Rosemary) Williamson of Niles, Mich., Bryan Williamson of Buchanan, Mich., and David (Susan) Williamson of Osceola, Ind.; and by grandchildren, Courtney and Zachery Snyder. Brothers, Lester, Clarence, Claude and Bill Williamson, all preceded him in death.

 

Mr. Williamson served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, was a UAW union steward, an avid golfer, amateur pilot, a weight-lifter and boxer, Cubs fan and a lifelong Democrat. The family would like to thank Hospice of St. Joseph County for their excellent care.

 

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, Jan. 10, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.
