SOUTH BEND - Bozzie Williams, 85 entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 6, 2010. He was born March 2, 1924 in Marked Tree, Arkansas. Son of the late Rafell and Mack Williams. He served as a Corporal in United States Army from 1943 to 1946 and travel extensively throughout Europe. He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and one Bronze Service Star. One June 18, 1947 Bozzie was united in marriage to Lila Oates. In August of 1948 the Williams relocated to South Bend, Indiana. From that union two lovely children were born. Brenda Wright (Allyn) of New Haven, Connecticut and Stanley Williams of South Bend, Indiana. Beside his wife and two children, he is survived by a grandson, Gabriel Williams of Mishawaka, IN; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Williams and Jacob Williams of Mishawaka, IN; one sister, Lela Moon of Chicago, IL; one brother, Mack Gunn of St. Louis, MO and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by sisters, Narciss Miller and Mildred Williams; brothers, Will Sexton and Ozzie Williams. He was employed by Studebaker Motors from 1948-1949, The Christman, Hickey & Romenda Construction Company from 1949-1965 and the South Bend School Corporation from 1965-1989. After retiring from the South Bend School Corporation, he enjoyed playing checkers and traveling especially on vacation cruises. He enjoyed watching T.V. and was an avid football fan. " Go Notre Dame, Bears, & Colts!" He enjoyed watching the Oprah Show, Dr. Phil, The CNN News Channel, and The Bobby Jones Gospel Hour. Bozzie became a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church on December 31, 1953 and was a very devoted member until his death. Services for Mr. Bozzie Williams will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 in the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church 116 N. Birdsell St., South Bend, IN visitation will begin at 11:00 am and funeral will begin at 12 noon. Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
