Milton L. Wigginton

March 15, 1928 - Sept. 10, 2001

Milton L. Wigginton, 73, of South 26th Street, South Bend, Ind., died following an illness at 10:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, in his residence.

Mr. Wigginton was born March 15, 1928, in Golden, Miss., to Curtis and Velma (Shook) Wigginton, and had lived in South Bend for 57 years, coming from Golden. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Giles in 1983; and by two infant daughters.

On March 16, 1985, in South Bend, he married Betty "Susie" Fry, who survives. He is also survived by four daughters, Willa (Larry) Peckman of Bourbon, Ind., and Wanda (Kenneth) Linn, Sherry (Lonnie) Longacre and Effie (Mike) Minchew, all of South Bend; eight sons, Rick (Laurie) Wigginton of Taylor, Mich., Danny (Venita) Giles and Karl (Carla) Giles, both of South Bend, Henry (Cindy) Fry of Bradley, Ill., Roy (Joan) Fry, Michael (Tammy) Fry, and Pete Fry all of South Bend, and Andrew Fry of Niles, Mich.; two sisters, Iris (Leroy) Rogers of South Bend and Quay Whitehead of Golden; and three brothers, Bill (Myrtle) Wigginton of Amory, Miss., Obie (Tommie) Wigginton of Belmont, Miss., and Wade (Quilla) Wigginton of Golden; and by 30 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wigginton retired as a stockroom clerk at the South Bend Lathe Corporation after 38 years. He attended New Life Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, with Rev. Edward Veigh and Rev. Michael Vellner of New Life Center officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 12, in the funeral home.
