Mr. Andrew Jackson Wigfall, 77, of 1915 Linden Ave., South Bend, passed away on Friday, Dec. 20, 1996, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. His death followed a brief illness. He was born on May 11, 1919 to the late Josephine and Thomas Wigfall in Statesboro, Ga. A.J. moved to South Bend, in 1943, from Register, Ga.

 

On July 19, 1960, in South Bend, he married Mary Myrtle Bates. To this union four children were born. Carmen Belinda, Andrew Kelly, Farrin Darrell and Keith Byron. A.J. was a former member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Allied Stamping Division in 1991.

 

Mr. Wigfall leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mary Myrtle Wigfall; three daughters, Carmen Wigfall of Winston-Salem, N.C., Joan Thompson and Kathy Waters, both of South Bend; three sons, Andrew Wigfall of Chesapeake, Va., Farrin and Keith Wigfall, both of South Bend; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mamie (Sewanie) Mincy of South Bend, Estella Ellis of Register, Ga., and Carrie Moffett of Savannah, Ga.; three brothers, Kenneth and Detroit Wigfall, both of South Bend, and DeWitt Wigfall of Statesboro, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 23, at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m., with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 at the church. Alford's Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
