NORTH LIBERTY - Paul Whitmer, 81, of Avon Park, Fla., formerly of Liberty Trail, North Liberty, died at 8 a.m. Monday in his Florida home. Mr. Whitmer retired from Ashland Oil Co. in 1974 as a truck driver. He was born Aug. 19, 1912, in South Bend, and moved to Florida in 1974 from North Liberty.
On Aug. 19, 1932, in Bluffton, Ind., he married Katherine S. Shock. She survives, with three sons, Paul D. of North Liberty, Philip A. of Jimtown and David S. of Sebring, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was a member of North Liberty Church of the Brethren and Teamsters Union Local 364.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Hanley & Sons Funeral Home and one hour before services Saturday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund.
