Sister Esther Marie Whitehouse CSC, 88, of Queen of Peace Convent at St. Mary’s, died at 2:50 a.m. today in the convent. She was an elementary school teacher in California from 1936 to 1957 and taught from 1968 to 1980 in Iowa, Idaho, Nevada and Utah. She was born Oct. 9, 1904 in Woodland, Calif., and moved to St. Mary’s in 1988. Surviving is a sister, Sister Mary Bethania CSC at Queen of Peace Convent. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Mar. 19, 1924; was received as a novice Jan. 6, 1925; and professed her vows Jan. 6, 1927.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday on Our Lady Of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s. friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday in the church where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
