Jack W. Whitaker, 55, of 232 W. Pendle St., South Bend, Ind., died at 6:08 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, in Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 2, 1941, in South Bend, and lived in this area all of his life. Jack married the former Mary L. McGowan in South Bend on Dec. 22, 1964, who survives.

He is also survived by five daughters, Noelle Schaffer of Mesa, Ariz., Wendy Colby of Elkhart, Ind., Deneen Green and Tamara Monsibais, both of Mishawaka, Ind., and Jacqueline Whitaker of South Bend; seven grandchildren; a sister, Joan Joyal of Houston, Texas; and by two brothers, Tom Whitaker of Largo, Fla., and Dwight Whitaker of South Bend.

He was employed as a truck driver at Preston Trucking Company, and was a member of the Plymouth, Ind., Moose Lodge.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, at Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday by Rev. Adolph Lacy. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
