Sister Peter Claver Wenzel

Springfield, Ill. – Word has been received of the Aug. 16 death of Sister M. Peter Claver Wenzel, 69, Springfield, and formerly of Elkhart. She died at St. John’s Hospital here.

 

She was born Mary Margaret Wenzel Aug. 12, 1910 in Elkhart. Surviving are three brothers Joseph, Garden City, Calif., formerly of Elkhart, and Paul and Edward, both of Elkhart, and three sisters, Jane Felker, Glen Ellyn, Ill., Esther Wright, Osceola and Anne Deskovich, Chicago, all formerly of Elkhart.

 

Services were Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church at the Motherhouse. Burial was in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery.

 

She entered the Franciscan congregation Sept. 8, 1946, and worked as a nurse in hospitals in Green Bay and Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Springfield and Decatur, Ill. She came to the motherhouse in 1972 and worked in the Loretto Home.
