Niles – James M. Wenzel, 69, of Glenford Lane died Sunday (Nov. 9, 2003) at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

 

He was born Jan. 22, 1934 in Niles to James H. and Verna (Kelly) Wenzel, and they preceded him in death. On Dec. 19, 1969 he married Mary Ellen Geyer in Mishawaka.

 

She survives with a son James (Donna) Wenzel Jr. of Plymouth; two daughters, Darlene McIntee and Mrs. Larry (Brenda) Krempetz, all of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Greg (Leslie) Holt of Bristol; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

 

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, where the service will be at 2 p.m. Friday.

 

Mr. Wenzel was a graduate of Washington-Clay High School in South Bend and received precision machine and quality control training. He was employed by Precision Piece Parts in Mishawaka as a quality control manager and retired in 1996.

 

He spent nearly 40 years of his life in the same business and received an honorary Society of Manufacturing Engineering degree for his efforts. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting guns and building model boats.

 

Memorials may be given to Hospice of St. Joseph or Berrien counties.
