John A. Wensits

John A. Wensits, 82, of St. Lo Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, in Hospice House. John was born in South Bend, Ind., on Dec. 25, 1915, and had lived in this area all of his life. He retired in 1977 from the Bendix Corporation. John was a member of Bendix Local 9 UAW, the DFV German Club, was a former member of St. Stephen's Society, St. Monica Catholic Church and American Legion Post 161. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps.

 

On Sept. 9, 1939, in South Bend, he married the former Melva M. Betz, who survives. He is also survived by four sons, John W. (Jeanne) Wensits of Dayton, Ohio, James E. Wensits of Mishawaka, David L. (Barbara) Wensits of Brownsburg, Ind., and Raymond R. Wensits of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Lauryl of Charlotte, N.C., Jack of Columbus, Ohio, Cheryl of Toledo, John and Kristin, both of South Bend, Amy of Mishawaka, Angela of Muncie, Ind., and Marcy of Indianapolis; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Jordan of South Bend; and by a brother, Emrich Wensits of South Bend. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Kaman of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Helen Eby of South Bend.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where a wake service will be held at 3:45 p.m. today. The funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Monica Catholic Church. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home starting at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
