Wilfred F. Weinkauf, 85, of South Main Street in Mishawaka IN, passed away Sunday in St Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka, after a brief illness.

 

Mr. Weinkauf was born in Mishawaka on April 2, 1911, to Fred and Clara (Bueche) Weinkauf, who both preceded him in death.

 

On November 26, 1938 in Mishawaka, he married the former Gertrude Trippel, who survives.  Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Richard Kemble of Mishawaka, three grandchildren, Brian and Darren Kemble of South Bend and Clare Kemble of Mishawaka; a great granddaughter, Alexis Kemble of South Bend; and a sister, Lillian Cook of Oceanside CA.

 

A brother, Elmer Weinkauf, preceded him in death.

 

Visitation for Wilfred will be at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd St., Mishawaka, today, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, with a rosary at 3:30pm in the funeral home.  A funeral Mass will be conducted on Wednesday, at 10am, in St Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Fr. Robert A. Yast presiding.  Entombment will follow at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.

 

Wilfred retired from the Hawthorne-Melody Milk Company in 1967 after 22 years of service.  He was a World War II Army veteran, having service in Paris on V. E. Day.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360, Knights of Columbus Council 1878, Teamsters Retirees of Local 364 and a member of St Joseph Church.  Memorial contributions may be made to St Joseph Church, Mishawaka.
