SOUTH BEND - Janice L. Weinberg, 65, of South Bend, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer(s) on Wednesday, April 11, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Janice was born on June 9, 1941, in South Bend, Indiana, to Frank E. and Angeline (Kapica) Jankowski. Janice was a legal secretary for 21 years with Cholis & Cholis, Attorneys at Law, and served as treasurer with District 11 Little League for over 15 years. Mondays after school were "Grammy Day" with all her grandchildren, and summers were spent at Donnell Lake with family and friends or at the ballpark. She touched so many lives with her kindness and generosity, and her courage this past year was nothing short of amazing. Whenever you hear or see the words "Play Like A Champion," smile and remember what it meant to her.

 

On June 16, 1962, she was married to Kevin Weinberg, who survives. Surviving with her husband of 44 years are her children, James (Jennifer) Weinberg of South Bend, and their children, Kevin, Jenna, Jake and Koley; Laura (Jack) Latson of South Bend, and their children, Katelyn, Rebecca and Jack; Karen Fussey of South Bend, and her children, Zachary and Samuel; Thomas (Jill) Weinberg of Niles, Michigan; Major Kelly (Bridget) Weinberg of Clarksville, Tennessee, and their daughter, Samantha; a sister, Mary Ann (Herbert) Herendeen of South Bend; a stepmother, Esther (Kary) Jankowski of South Bend; 11 nieces and nephews, 21 great-nieces and nephews, and 20 great-great-nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor Street, South Bend, Indiana.
