Richard Joseph Weikel Sr

October 26, 1924 – August 26, 1982

Richard Joseph Weikel Sr., 57, of 608 Rex, died at 4:20pm Thursday in his home after an extended illness.  He was a salesman.

He was born October 26, 1924, in Elkhart and lived in South Bend for 32 years coming from Elkhart.  On September 9, 1950, in south Bend, he married Geraldine Bultinck, who survives along with a son, Richard J. Weikel Jr of South Bend; two grandchildren; and tow sisters, Miss Hazel Weikel of South Bend and Mrs. Grace Bonfigio of Elkhart.

Services will be held at 10am Monday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William, with Rev. Jack Doherty, CSC, associate pastor of Holy Cross Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Sunday in the funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30pm Sunday.  He was a veteran of WW II serving with the Army.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice.
