SOUTH BEND - Edna Z. Troyer, 102, of Merrillville, formerly of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 12th. Edna was born Oct. 12, 1905, in Howard Co., IN. She moved to South Bend from Kokomo in 1934 and lived there until 1999. She worked for the Commercial Union Insurance Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1970. Edna retained her membership in the First Christian Church of South Bend which she helped pioneer. She is a current member of Peace United Church of Christ in Merrillville and the Sigma Phi Sorority. Edna was a 20-year volunteer worker for the Red Cross at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, and she was an avid bridge player. During her life she traveled most of the United States, Mexico and Canada.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Verna Troyer; her brother, Eldon; her sisters, Meda Locke, Bonnie Troyer and Betty Troyer; her nephew, Keith Locke; and nieces, Carolyn Beck and Eleanor Osborne. She is survived by nephews, Bob (Joyce) Locke of Hobart and Dan (Cheryl) Locke of Crown Point; 16 great-nieces and nephews; 43 great-great-nieces and nephews; and 26 great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

 

Friends are invited to attend mausoleum services on Monday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. EST at Riverview Cemetery, 2033 Portage Ave., South Bend, IN 46616, with Rev. Owen Clayton officiating. Entombment at Riverview Cemetery. Contributions may be made to First Christian Church of South Bend, 110 E. Jefferson, South Bend. Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN, is in charge of arrangements.
