David Troiola

David Troiola, 82, of East Marion Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at 3:18 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. David was born on Nov. 22, 1917, in Toluca, Ill., to the late Saverio and Rosina (Batistelle) Troiola. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Palanti; and by two brothers, Ernaldo and James Troiola.

 

Dave retired in 1968 from the United States Navy after 30 years of service. During his military career he served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and at the beginning of the Viet Nam War, retiring as a chief damage control man. After returning home he worked at and retired from the former North Side Lumber Company, Mishawaka.

 

He is survived by a sister, Julia Troiola, with whom he lived; two nieces, Joni Madou of Mishawaka and Julia Troiola of Las Vegas, Nev.; a nephew, Wayne Troiola of Mishawaka; and by two great- nieces and two great-nephews.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today, Feb. 20, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, in the funeral home, with Father William Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
