Helen June Tiedge

Helen June Tiedge, 81, of Apache Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away of natural causes on Friday, Sept. 19, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Mrs. Tiedge was born July 3, 1922, to Harry and Pauline (Kline) Greene in Mishawaka, Ind. On Feb. 3, 1940, the former Ms. Greene married Carl Tiedge in Mishawaka. Carl preceded her in death.

 

She is survived by her children, Robert Louis Tiedge and his wife, Donna, of Cicero, Ind., Tonda Longenecker and her husband, Chet of Southlake, Texas, and Janet Hagedorn and her husband, Dr. Lloyd Hagedorn of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Roland Greene of South Bend; sisters, Bertha "Pat" Green of Mishawaka and Donnajean Martin of South Bend; and by six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

 

Calling was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind. There will be one hour of calling prior to the 3 p.m. service today, Sept. 21, in the funeral home. Dr. H. Douglas Peirce will preside, and interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for Mrs. Tiedge will be Eric Longenecker, Jason Longenecker, Gary Ottenweller, Dan Gabrek, Jeff Schafer and Brett Hagedorn.

 

Mrs. Tiedge was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend. Helen loved the outdoors, especially fishing. She also enjoyed bingo and bowling, and loved to play board games. Helen was an avid sports fan, especially of Notre Dame sports. Mrs. Tiedge loved to sew, and also had an extensive keychain collection. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with the Notre Dame men's basketball team for many years. Helen also had a great love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial donations may be made to the favorite charity of donor's choice.
