SOUTH BEND - Shirley A. Thomas, 80, passed away in
Memorial Hospital, South Bend, on Friday, December 19, 2008.
Shirley was born on May 20, 1928, in Brazil, IN, to Arvil and
Dorothy (Kaelber) Wells. She was preceded in death by her
parents. On March 29, 1947, in Stearleyville, IN, as the former
Shirley Wells, she married Lawrence Thomas. Left behind to
cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Lawrence; four
children, Darlene (Mike) Olmstead of South Bend, Christina
(Alan) Schrader of Brazil, IN, Brenda (Richard) Crawford
of Lakeville and Daniel Thomas of South Bend; 14 grandchildren
and 22 grandchildren; a brother, Don (Jean) Wells of
Indianapolis; and an aunt, Ellena Bottnor of Brazil, IN.
Shirley graduated from Brazil High School in 1946. She was a
loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a
stay-at-home mom and loved taking care of her family.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 22, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Pat Sommer officiating. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Summitt Lawn Cemetery, Brazil, IN.
