Maria Eva Thallemer

Mrs. Matthias Thallemer, one of Mishawaka’s oldest and best known citizenswho had been failing for several years and who sustained a stroke of apopexy Saturday, passed away Monday morning at 9 o’clock in the family residence, 1208 North Main Street, aged 67 years.

 

Mrs. Thallemer was formerly Maria Eva Schmitt and was born Jan. 1, 1842, in Rostadt, Baveria, Germany, and came to Mishawaka, Oct. 14, 1870 and was married Feb. 13 1871 to Matthias Thallemer, in this city, who survives. She also leaves three sons, August and George Thallemer of Mishawaka, and John Thallemer of Chicago; and three daughters, Misses Anna and Rose Thallemer of Mishawaka, and Sister Gertrude, a nun of St. Elizabeth Hospital, Chicago.

 

Mrs. Thallemer was an estimable woman and was a member of the Rosary Society and the Christian Mothers’ Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church. The funeral was held yesterday from St. Joseph Church, Rev. L. A, Moench officiating.
