Mabel Ceclia Thallemer

Mishawaka – Mrs. Mabel C. Thallemer, 71, of 316 ½ S. Spring St., who had been ill for the last 18 months, died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital.

 

Mrs. Thallemer, who was the widow of the late Joseph M. Thallemer, assisted in the operation of the Thallemer Funeral Home from 1915 until her illness.

 

Before her marriage she was Miss Mabel Titus and she came to Mishawaka in 1911 from Warsaw, where she was born.

 

She was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Rosary Society of that church. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary in which she had been active until her illness.

 

Surviving are three foster daughters, Mrs. Velma Gerstbauer, of South Bend, Mrs. Mary Korpal of South Bend and Sister M. Cyriel, PHJC, of St. Ann’s Convent, Gary; four foster grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ferne Ferrettie, of Mishawaka and one brother, Loren Titus of South Bend.

 

Friends may call in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mrs. Mabel C. Thallemer, of 316 ½ S. Spring St., who died Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital following an 18-month illness. Msgr. Curt A. Suelzer, pastor, will officiate.

 

Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

 

Pallbearers will be Ned Titus, Don Titus, Donald Thallemer, Gerald Thallemer, Timothy Gerstbauer and John J. Korpal.

 

The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.

 

A resident of Mishawaka since 1911, Mrs. Thallemer is survived by three foster daughters, four foster grandchildren, one sister and one brother.
