Herman Lewis Thallemer

South Bend - Herman L. Thallemer, aged 69, of 1808 South Michigan Street, died at 3 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Hospital after a week’s illness of a heart ailment.

 

Born in Mishawaka, Dec. 17, 1876, Mr. Thallemer came to South Bend 33 years ago from that city. He had been a wholesale grocery salesman 40 years, the last 25 with Levy-Ward Grocery Company.

 

His wife Edith Kemps Thallemer, to whom he was married Sept. 19, 1914, died last July 24.

 

Surviving are a son, Raymond, Brookfield, Ill.; a granddaughter; a nephew, Carl Kemps, who made his home with Mr. Thallemer, and two brothers, Joseph M. and William A., both of Mishawaka.

 

Friends may call at the residence from 7 p.m. today until the services at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Rev. Arnold J. Wibbert will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

 

Mr. Thallemer was a trustee of St. Matthew’s Church and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Independent Order of Foresters and the United Commercial Travelers of America.

 

Editor: He was the son of Aloysius Thallemer and Katherine Buchheit. His wife’s maiden name was Edith C. Kemps.
