SOUTH BEND - Betty June Taylor, 85, of South Bend, IN,
passed away at 8:56 a.m. Sunday, October 19, 2008, in Hospice
House. She was born on May 29, 1923, in Tyner, IN, to the late
Detmer and Maude (Bellekarn) Brown. Mrs. Taylor is
survived by a daughter, Darlene Winterrowd of Plymouth,
IN; two stepdaughters, Cheryl (JJ) Forizs of South Bend,
IN, and Lorraine (John) Kuhn of Lakeville, IN; three sons,
Dennis Winterrowd of Mishawaka, IN, Michael (Vicky) Winterrowd of
Lakeville, IN, and Johnny (Christine) Shankle of Big Lake,
MN; and two stepsons, Bruce Taylor of SC and Wade Shankle of
Crosby, MN; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren. Three husbands, Robert Winterrowd,
Murvin Shankle and Robert W. Taylor, preceded her in death. She
was also preceded in death by five sisters, Arlene Williams,
Cory Mays, Enola Armentrout, Ina Hoffer and
Evadine Lerch; and three brothers, Russell, Aaron and Joda
Brown; and a stepdaughter, Christine Amos. Mrs. Taylor was
a lifelong area resident. She was a member of the South Bend
Moose Lodge, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and formerly attended Twin City
Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, October 23, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Rev. Hardy Blake, pastor of the Ardmore Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Services, 922 E.
