MISHAWAKA - Services for Joanna M. Tassell, 85, of Downey Street, who died at 7 a.m. Monday in her home, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
Mrs. Tassell was an employee of Goldblatt's Department Store and former co-owner of Larriat Drive-In. She was born Nov. 1, 1910, in Melrose Park, Ill., and lived in Mishawaka for 49 years. On Sept. 6, 1931, in Melrose Park, as Joanna M. Guarine, she married Wayne L. Tassell. He died April 24, 1986. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia J. Walker of Mishawaka; a son, Bruce W. of Mishawaka; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose LaRocco of Melrose Park; and two brothers, Frank Guarine of Summerfield, Fla., and Peter Guarine of Melrose Park. She was a member of the church and Mishawaka Women's Republican Club.
