Jan. 22, 1919 - May 17, 2010GRANGER - Helen L. Takace, 91, of Granger, IN, passed away on Monday, May 17th, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka following complications from a broken hip. Helen was born on January 21, 1919, in South Bend, IN. Her parents were Franklin B. Clark and Agnes Thompson Clark. On January 22, 1938, in South Bend, she married Frank Takace, who preceded her in death in 1977. She is survived by four children, Gloria Takace of Granger, IN, Frank E. (Carolyn) Takace of Niles, MI, James A. (Cynthia) Takace of White Pigeon, MI, and Dale R. (Verna) Takace of Osceola, IN. She is also survived by two sisters, Agnes Dougall of Osceola, IN, and Eunice Leath of Finger, TN; along with nine grandchildren, Michele (Tim) Egmer, Kathy (Mike) Cora, Elizabeth (David) Meeks, Beth Anne (Bartel) Jonker, David (Meg) Takace, Adam (Kathy) Takace, Aaron (Ashley) Takace, Chris (Jamie) Takace and Angela (Tim) Gaddy; and 14 great-grandchildren, Anna Cora Rohrer and Andrew Cora, Sarah, Joshua and Caleb Meeks, Ryan, April, Margaret Jonker, Cadelyn, Aidan, Brendan and Noah Takace, Liam, Avery-Rose Takace; one great-great-granddaughter, Airyanna Cora; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale E. Clark and Richard Clark; as well as by step-brothers and sisters, Evelyn Handley, John Stansfield and Robert Stansfield, and a half brother, Frank B. Clark Jr. She was a member of Happy Time Gals Homemaker Club of Granger. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially cookies, her favorite were Kiflies. She actively participated in all her children and grandchildren's activities, from sporting events games to band concerts, sometimes traveling all over Michigan and Indiana to be there for support. She enjoyed needle-work, and made many beautiful crocheted doilies and other items. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers. She will be greatly missed by her entire family and friends. As a sixty-one-year resident of Granger, she saw it develop from a small farming community to its present-day existence. Helen's sons, Frank, James and Dale, wish to thank their sister, Gloria Takace, for the loving care that she has given their mother over the years. Friends may visit with the family today, May 20th, from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. A funeral service celebrating Helen's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 21st, in the funeral chapel, with Rev. Robert Eby. Burial is to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Association .
