Sistine Tagliaferri

MISHAWAKA – Sistine C, Tagliaferri, 84, of 824 Alabama Street, died at 7:03 a.m. today in the home of her daughter after an illness. A former Uniroyal employee, she had also had worked for Schafer Gear Works and was a seamstress at Whiteford Manufacturing in South Bend. She was born April 7, 1904 in Alatri, Inaly and moved to Mishawaka that year.

 

On Nov. 11, 1922 in Elkhart as Sistine Cittadine, she married Antonio Tagliaferri. He died in January 1978. Surviving are a daughter Helen J. Houghton of Mishawaka; two sons, Joseph and Harry J. Tagliaferri, both of Mishawaka; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Sedam of South Bend; and a brother, James Cittadine of Elkhart. Another brother, Louis Cittadine died today.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hahn’s DeVos Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
